This workshop is for anyone who would like to develop, refine or complete a teaching portfolio. We will be discussing how to get the most out of your teaching or Graduate Certificate portfolio, how to put one together if you haven’t started yours yet, and how to finish a portfolio for a specific purpose.

Your portfolio is where you document your philosophy of teaching and teaching context, your intentions and approach to student learning, examples of what you have implemented, your successes and how you have evaluated your initiatives. Creating a teaching portfolio helps you to reflect upon and improve your students’ learning. A portfolio is also an important tool for getting recognised and rewarded for good teaching, and is a requirement when applying for a job, going for promotion or applying for a teaching and learning award. Submitting a teaching portfolio is also the capstone assessment task for the IML Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning.

Portfolios can be electronic or paper based – the choice is yours. In this one hour hands-on session there will be advice to get you started on the type of portfolio that best meets your needs, as well as a portfolio ‘working bee’ with feedback and support on hand. Do come and join us for an hour focused on you and your teaching. Stay on for the second hour repeat if you would like to make serious progress on the day. Please bring along your own device and any portfolio work to date.
